Drill roads, inner and outer tubes of the core barrel are key tubular components of wireline core drilling systems used in mining and geological explorations.

Advanced mechanical properties for a demanding sector

Wireline core drilling systems are used in geological and mining explorations to collect samples of material, which are analyzed in order to determine underground mineral percentages and stratigraphical composition. Tubular columns (drill strings) at the heart of wireline core drilling systems can reach a depth of 3,000 meters, and are made up of a series of jointed cold-drawn tubes (drill rods), with a core barrel at the end, made of an inner and an outer tube, connected to a special cutting diamond bit at the bottom of the hole.

Dimensional Range

For this application, we supply alloyed cold-drawn stress-relieved seamless tubes used as drill rods and the inner and outer tubes of the core barrel in the main dimensional standards codified by the wireline core drilling industry.

We have developed a customized offer for this demanding sector and, thanks to an accurate control of steel chemistry and heat treatments, our tubes have excellent straightness, optimum mechanical properties and tight dimensional tolerances that guarantee the correct rotation of the drilling string during perforation, which can reach up to 1,700 revolutions per minute using the B size.
