Because of my father's job, I moved to the United States at the age of middle school. I had lived there for 10 years until I joined this company. Considering of my oversee experience, I was looking for a global company. It seemed that in general manufacturing companies, there was no chance to work oversea sometime soon. However, in this company, it seemed possible to go overseas in the near future. That global atmosphere was attractive.

Belonging to Production Dept, I collect ultrasonic inspection data at the Ultrasonic Section. Ultrasonic inspection is a technique that's used to detect flaws and check the wall thickness of pipes by wetting the pipe with water, applying ultrasonic waves, and catching the condition of the reflected waves with sensors. I'm researching how this can be improved to obtain the most efficient effect. Also, We're now considering improvements in the drying rack. Immediately before pipes are shipped, the surface is coated with rust-proofing paint to make sure the pipe stays rust-free. After painting, the pipes are moved to a drying rack, but in the process, the rust-proofing paint is peeled off in the area where the pipe comes into contact with the transporting rail. In order to prevent this problem, we want to make some kind of improvements in the draying rack.

This company has the atmosphere where every employee is independent and has a sense of mission. At first, I thought "What? You expect me to do this all at once?" But I began to realize that we not only were given this kind of head-on responsibility but also receive support and encouragement from behind. This is an efficient way to promote the learning process. Here, everyone is independent. There's probably no other company that gives so much responsibility to newly-graduated employees only a few months after they join.

For me, the job here is like doing projects at university in the US. It's like the excited, free-wheeling atmosphere among college classmates. If somebody suddenly has an idea, they can propose it without hesitation. This is the place where you can test your own abilities with innovative thinking. I can say, "If you're looking for a job where you can really spread your wings, this is it!" (Laughs)
